Beautify your dock
Crustaceans attached to your dock pilings look ugly and can cause injury and damage. Scrape these crustaceans off one last time, attach Barnacle-Shield and they will not grow back. For cost effectiveness use Barnacle-Shield only on the piling area between mean high tide and 6" below the sand bottom.
protect your valuable assets
Barnacle-Shield keeps your boats and other watercraft safe from damage due to barnacles and oysters slicing through the paint or finish on your hull.

5-Year warranty against manufacturing defects.
barnacles love plastic wrap
Plastic wraps don't keep barnacles and oysters away. They love plastic wraps as much as they love wood pilings. Plastic wrapped dock pilings only look good for a few weeks.
How does it work?
The unique metallurgy and configuration of Barnacle-Shields's patent pending mesh overlay creates a passive, localized electric micro-currents, when it comes in contact with salt water. These micro-currents repel crustaceans and mollusks without the use of toxic chemicals or coatings. This means you no longer have to scrape barnacles and oysters off your dock pilings and your dock stays clean and beautiful in an environmentally friendly way.
This mild voltage does not affect equipment on your dock or on your watercraft.

how to order
You must first measure the circumference of your dock pilings by using a flexible tape measure. The circumference of your piling will usually vary from top to bottom, so be sure to use the largest circumference you intend to wrap when selecting your Barnacle-Shield wrap. The circumference will determine which sheet length 'L' you should use to wrap the piling with at least 6" extra to overlap at the end.

why we only sell barnacle-shield by the sheet
First, the simple application of mesh on a bare piling or any other object subject to crustacean growth is one of the many features covered by our several patent applications. However, we do not do this because of the very difficult handling requirements of working with the mesh, let alone the enhanced difficulty of being in the water. Also, simply nailing mesh to a piling tends to fray the mesh causing it to detach from the piling.
Because barnacles will grow on anything except our mesh, we envelop the HDPE sheet on 3 sides with our mesh.
We then attach the mesh to the HDPE sheet by ultrasonically welding it on one end. This keeps the mesh in place both during and after installation while exposing the minimum amount of plastic edge for barnacle attachment. The remaining two sides are not welded so that the mesh/ plastic interface is free to slip and adjust as the piling is wrapped.
The reason for this configuration is not just to keep the HDPE sheet covered and make installation easier but also to allow the sheet to move relative to the mesh as a piling is wrapped. Since the HDPE sheet wraps a smaller diameter around the piling than the mesh does, the mesh pulls back as smaller and smaller diameters are wrapped. If this movement were not allowed, the tension of the mesh would cause the HDPE sheet to buckle.
